The only ways to stretch the hat are as follows. They aren't ones that can be done at home.

The first is using a steel hot block stretcher, that some milliners have. The other is to steam and re-block the crown on a bigger block, thus stretching the hat.

The biggest problem with hats seems to be sizing. Even a 1/4" can make all the difference in the world. A hat that fits too tight or too loose is uncomfortable.

If I were you, I'd order the hat a size larger. It's easier to make a bigger hat fit with sizing tape.

I have ordered, through mail a BEAUTIFUL hat- it is call the Bell Crown Topper from the Village Hat Shop. It is a top hat that has a slight curve sort of like the Mad hatter but not as drastic. I must have measured my head wrong, 7 1/4 the first one came and sat on top of my head. I wrote them and they sent me a second one 7 3/8 now that one fits, but very very tighly. Each time it takes quite a long time to get a hat since they are in CA and I am in IL. I don't really want to do this a 3rd time, is there a way to stretch the hat just a bit?

thanks
