The Birth of a Tea Line…..

My line of loose leaf artisan teas has received rave reviews Tea Time Magazine, Southern Lady and Kentucky Monthly.  It means a great deal to me as tea is one of my great passions.

So…how did it all begin?

One Autumn afternoon, I was taking a walk.  It was 2021.  Life was a struggle for many, including me.  My Mother, who loved tea, had passed away.  The pandemic had taken a huge toll on my business.

While on my walk, the scent of crisp fall leaves and the cool breeze made me think about tea.  I had always loved tea while growing up.  As an adult, I visited tea rooms all over the world.  I enjoyed afternoon tea with friends often.

The thought came to me…what it would be like if I had my own line of teas?

How could I merge my love of hats with tea?  In many ways, tea and hats go together.  I was asked by a local chef to partner and produce an afternoon tea/hat fashion show.  To our great pleasure, it was an overwhelming success.

I did some research and a few months later introduced my tea line.   My teas combine my love of tea and hats, which is incorporated in the names of the teas.  Earl Grey’s Top Hat, Janes Blueberry Bonnet and Elizabeth’s Lavender Halo to name a few.    To my great joy and surprise, the teas gathered positive reviews immediately!

Below are a few of the publications that our teas have been featured in.

I studied the Art of Afternoon Tea Etiquette with Nancy Hoogenboom at the Southern California School of Protocol Merging my love of tea with tea etiquette felt wonderful!  A few months after I received my certification, I was instructing others in the art of afternoon tea and hosting teas at event venues.

My tea event business has expanded with my speaking at numerous venues such as The Kentucky Castle, Lexington Tea and Brie, Spindletop Hall, Fasig Tipton and the annual Sacred Heart Tea to name a few places.   Each afternoon tea etiquette event is unique.  People enjoy the afternoon tea etiquette events and tickets sell quickly.  We chat about etiquette and the history of tea.  I discuss fashion and the role that women have shared in the history of the world’s most popular beverage.

My teas are artfully blended in small batches to ensure the utmost quality.  These teas are sourced from around the world, many from Ethical Trade Partnership gardens.
