Many of my clients enjoy horse racing, although one has had quite a busy summer! Cheryl attended the Belmont and Haskell. She will be attending the Travers on Saturday. We’ve done 3 different hats for the different races. Simply Elegant, done in ivory, was Cheryl’s hat for The Belmont.
For The Haskell, Cheryl had seen a hat on t.v. that she liked, a lavendar hat. We chatted on the phone about her vision for the hat. I then did a mock-up of the hat, shot some photos and emailed them to her. We discussed the hat and decided to make the hat with all lavender silk flowers. The end result was stunning. Even though Cheryl knew what the hat looked like, I didn’t send her a final photo since I wanted her to be surprised when she opened the hat box. She loved the hat and hopefully it contributed to a great day at The Haskell, held at Monmouth Park.
Travers time is upon us….. Cheryl decided on a black hat done in the Simply Elegant style. I made the hat and since I didn’t have any all black flowers, did the mock-up with black and white flowers. To my surprise, Cheryl loved the black and white flowers and decided to go with that look, with a few black flowers added.
It’s been fun designing with Cheryl. She has a great eye for what she wants the final look to be. The best part of my business is getting that perfect hat to my client and knowing that they are happy. I always tell people that you could not pay me enough to stop designing hats….I just enjoy it too much.
