In the past year the popularity of hats has risen tremendously. Polly’s business has grown rapidly from what is was this time, the previous year. Is there something in the water or are hats coming back in fashion?
Every year the Kentucky Derby is a great place to see people wearing hats, but this year the trend was more amplified. Not only were more people wearing hats and wearing them proudly, but people wanted bigger and more elaborate hats. And more and more, women and men are being seen all over sporting hats; to parties, on vacation, even to grocery shopping, the trend is taking over. Could it be that we are following the fashion trends of hollywood? In almost every magazine we are seeing hollywood’s elite embracing the hat culture. Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman and Cameron Diaz are just a few who can be seen sporting some of the best hats.
People are also trying many different types of hats. Hats ranging from elegant straw hats to cowboy hats, Panama Jacks to newsboys, baseball caps to fidoras, they all have fans. Also women wearing hats to weddings or in their own weddings is back in style as well. Many women like the more casual but geometrical look of hats on their wedding days, especially for outdoor weddings.
