The world championship race will take place for the first time ever at Monmouth Park, New Jersey this year. The race rotates where it is held from year to year. Last year is was held in Louisville at Churchill Downs. On Friday, October 26, this historic and famous race will kick off with 3, $1 million dollar races. Since 1982, the Breeder’s Cup race has played a huge role in the promotion of horse racing. The race is well know as the season ending race that sends the racing season out with a bang. The Cup has also become a large factor in the voting of the Eclipse Awards. The Eclipse Awards are presented to Horse of the Year as well as other categories. Also, for the second year in a row, the Breeder’s Cup will be aired on ESPN, this recognition is huge for the horse racing community.
