As many of you know, Polly and I are members of the group called the Hat Ladies of Lexington. Recently we attended lunch at a fellow hat lady’s home. We were blessed to be in the company of Sue, a lovely woman with a great personality and a pure talent for hosting. Sue invited us over take a look at her wonderful hat collection and to have a friendly lunch. I must say, I was blown away by the whole afternoon.
Sue has one of the best hat collections I have ever seen. She has a wide variety of hats ranging from beautiful vintage hats that have been passed down in her family, to unique pieces that one would never even think could be a hat, to a straw cowgirl hat, to an authentic fez. As well as her fabulous collection, Sue can wear a hat with such confidence that she could wear any hat.
Not only was her hat collection impressing, the lunch she served was absolutly perfect. She served a wonderful soup in spectacular tea cups, then followed with a club salad. She made homemade iced tea with a cinnamon twist, and chocolate cake topped with garden grown mint just for the occasion.
Visiting Sue reminded me that it is always fun to share with others your favorite hobbies. Make a day or lunch out of it. Get some of your friends together to talk about each of your favorite things to do or collect, you might be surprised by how much fun it is to learn about other people’s talents and hobbies.

Getting hat confident women together is important. I know, often times in the past, I was intimidated to wear a hat to a function. If other women wear them, it can be fun and you don’t feel like you stand out.
