Probably my favorite fashion movie clip of all time is the Ascot Gavotte scene from “My Fair Lady”. It’s utterly gorgeous in its simplicity. The starkness of black and white make the clothing and hat designs stand out. In my opinion, there is nothing more classic than black and white. It remains my signature color combination. My best sellers overtime have been black and white hats, with a burst of color such as hot pink.
Since Ascot is this month, I thought it only fitting that I focus on hats from this famous scene in film history.
In the first photo, the hat on the far right caught my eye. It is historical in nature, perhaps similar to a hat from the 1700’s worn by Georgiana, the Duchess of Devonshire. She was also the great, great, great grand aunt of Diana, the Princess of Wales.
The hats in this image are stunning too, as are the long gloves.
I am in love with all these hats. Note that the one in the middle was also modeled by Audrey Hepburn for a publicity shot.
As you can tell, I am quite in love with this series.
A comical scene was where these two ladies were wearing the same exact hat.
To finish, I will leave you with the most famous hat of all, the one worn by Eliza Doolittle to her society debut.

Thanks for the great tip! I loved the fabrics and could see them covering a chair in my studio. The colors and prints are amazing.
