Are hats Eco-Friendly? Yes, they are if they are made from sinamay, natural straw, feathers and silk flowers. The hats I design and sell are eco-friendly.
Using natural materials is better not only for the environment but also for those wearing hats.
Synthetic hats are made from materials such as plastic that does not “breathe”. People perspire more when wearing synthetic materials.
Most straw hats are made from natural fibers found in South America or the Orient. Sinamay is fiber from the abaca tree. The dyes I use are plant based and therefore, not toxic. The raw parisisal straws I use are made by workers who weave the fibers.
What hats are not eco friendly? Any hats made from a synthetic fiber such as polyester or plastic. Any hat having plastic in the flowers is not eco-friendly.
Purchasing an eco-friendly hat is not only a good idea, but is an investment in our future and the future of our planet.
